Srdečně Vás zveme na přednášku, která se uskuteční ve čtvrtek 24. září 2026 od 18.00 hodin a bude věnována nové publikaci Vybraná neogotická sakrální architektura v jižních Čechách. Uměleckohistorický průvodce, která představuje pohled na architektonické dědictví regionu jižních Čech. Prostřednictvím bohatého obrazového materiálu a výsledků dlouhodobého výzkumu přiblíží přednáška vybrané neogotické kostely, kaple a šlechtické sepulkrální stavby, které v 19. a na počátku 20. století výrazně spoluutvářely podobu jihočeské krajiny. Pozornost bude věnována nejen známějším městským sakrálním stavbám, ale také méně známým venkovským objektům, jež dosud stojí spíše na okraji odborného i veřejného zájmu. Přednáška nabídne zasazení těchto památek do širších kulturně-historických souvislostí a představí neogotiku jako významný projev historismu, který významně ovlivnil podobu jižních Čech. Přijďte společně objevovat architektonické skvosty, jejich příběhy i jejich místo v kulturní paměti regionu a seznámit se s novou publikací, která je zpracována v českém i anglickém jazyce a je určena všem zájemcům o dějiny umění, architekturu a kulturní dědictví.

You are cordially invited to a lecture on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at 6.00 p.m., devoted to the recently published volume Selected Neo-Gothic Sacred Architecture in South Bohemia. Art-Historical Guide, which offers a fresh perspective on the architectural heritage of the South Bohemian region. Drawing upon extensive visual documentation and the findings of long-term research, the lecture will present a selection of Neo-Gothic churches, chapels, and aristocratic funerary monuments that played a significant role in the formation of the South Bohemian landscape during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Particular attention will be devoted not only to well-known urban ecclesiastical buildings but also to lesser-known rural structures that have thus far remained at the margins of both scholarly and public interest. The lecture will situate these monuments within their broader cultural and historical context and examine Neo-Gothic architecture as a significant manifestation of nineteenth-century historicism that profoundly shaped the character and visual identity of South Bohemia. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover these architectural treasures, explore their histories, and reflect upon their place within the region’s cultural memory. The event will also provide an opportunity to become acquainted with this new publication, available in both Czech and English, which is intended for all those interested in art history, architecture, and cultural heritage.
